The Galleria II Ponte’s exhibition of On Radical Works painting and papers of Lorenzo Bonechi, 1982-1994 opens Friday, October 1st at 6 pm.
Bonechi, although fairly unknown, was distinguished by his eerily slim figures of men and the defined color schemes of his simplistic landscapes. His paintings emulated light through their vibrant colors and brought to life nature in each piece through distinctive yet abstract images, making commentary on man’s relationship with nature.
Bonechi’s career took him all across Italy and gained his first solo exhibition as a painter in 1985 at the Galleria Carini in Florence. The short work of Bonechi did not move artistic mountains but rather prompted questions about what the human experience entailed, so quietly that almost no one noticed.
At just 39 years old, Bonechi met his untimely death right after being invited to the 46th Biennale Internazionale d’Arte in Venice.
The last day of the exhibition will be December 30th, 2020.
