New App Helps Travelers with Luggage

A new app that allows travelers to book a porter has come to Rome’s Termini Station and will soon be coming to Florence’s Santa Maria Novella. It costs between €6–8 to book a porter to help carry luggage across crowded platforms, notorious as sites of luggage theft.
The porters currently wear bright yellow jackets with the words “portabagagli autorizzato” inscribed to identify themselves to travelers, as organizers work to create a set uniform. Porters are available from 9 a.m till 7 p.m., and the service costs €6 to get to a taxi, €7 for a trip within two kilometers and €8 for more than two kilometers.
