The Pistoia Blues festival is back for the 36th edition from July 1 to 24. Established in 1980 as the first Italian music festival dedicated to blues music, this year the festival honors blues legend BB King, who died last May and was one of the big stars to appear most frequently on the stage of Pistoia Blues.
In recent years, the festival has opened its stage to artists of style other than blues, including important names of the rock and the pop international scene.
This year marks the return to Pistoia of Carlos Santana – performing on July 21 – who has appeared previously at the Blues Festival in 1996 and 2004.
This edition will also feature Sting, who resides in Tuscany, about one hour drive from Pistoia. This is the first time that the English artist has appeared on the stage of Pistoia. Other featured artists include the Counting Crows (July 3rd), Passenger (July 15th) , Hozier (July 7th), and The Darkness and Dream Theater (July 18th). Following is the full program of the Festival.
