The Fiorentina FC soccer team was formed in 1926 and is part of the Italian Serie A league. They have won two Italian Championships in the past, one in 1955-56 and one in 1968-69. They also have won six Coppa Italian trophies and one Italian Super Cup, along with the UEFA Cup. Where the sport of soccer is very important to Italians, for example the Calcio Storico just last month that happens every year, their stadium is very important too. The Artemio Franchi Stadium held some of the matches of the 1934 World Cup along with soccer preliminaries for the 1960 Summer Olympics which was held in Rome. It is also known to hold many concerts and therefore many celebrities have step foot there — Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, etc. The team is nicknamed, “Viola” and they stand out by their distinct rich purple color that they have on their uniform.
